SubscribeCommunications A statement has been received from the Rail Regulator relating to the lack of communications between the different railway companies. It is heartening to note that action is being taken with regard to this matter.
Brighouse and Elland reopening The good news is that finance has been found for the replacement of the Huddersfield Road railway bridge which will form the access to the new station in Brighouse. The new station will be built on the site of the original station which was erected in 1841. No decision has yet been taken with regard to the financing of the new rail service.
Northern Spirit Concern was expressed at a recent meeting of the North Eastern Rail Users Consultative Committee with regard to the proposal by Northern Spirit to alter the wording of rail tickets issued to intermediate stations on the Settle and Carlisle line. Following further consultation it would appear that an application has to be made to Office of Passenger Rail Franchising for the wording on a rail ticket to be altered under the 1993 Railways Act.
Punctuality Cancellations and delays are still giving cause for concern on local and TransPennine services, and there is a need for improvement.

Railfuture is an independent, voluntary group representing rail users in Britain with 20,000 affiliated and individual members. It is not funded by train companies, political parties or trade unions, and all members have an equal say.
Railfuture campaigns for cheap and convenient rail services for everyone; better links for buses, bikes and pedestrians; policies to get more heavy lorries on to rail; new lines, stations and freight terminals. In short, a better rail service and a bigger rail system for both passengers and freight.
Railfuture is pro-rail but not anti-road or anti-air. However, we campaign for a switch from road and air to rail. We do not interfere in the running of the railway - we campaign for the quality and range of services provided, not how they are delivered. We are the only champion of all rail users.
